Active Chilled Beams

Active Chilled Beams (ACB's) deliver energy efficient air condition using low air quantities. Active Chilled Beams are suitable for concealed ceiling or exposed unit installations. Applicable where inadequate duct work sizes do not permit required supply of air quantities, large open plan floor spaces with a higher than usual sensible cooling load requirement, and new construction where lower temperature primary air allows reduction in fan-assisted VAV equipment.

The ACB System

Active Chilled Beams are the latest generation in chilled beam technology, taking care of both the sensible and latent heat gains of a room in a single package. Active Chilled Beams lower the quantity of primary air by inducing secondary air directly from the conditioned space into the secondary heat exchanger/chilled water-cooling coil within the beam, before discharging the combined air stream through the air outlet to the conditioned space. This reduces the need for fan assisted VAV as total air supplied to the conditioned space is performed at the location of the Active Chilled Beam, rather than just relying of primary air delivery.
